THE RIGSCORE / BUYING GUIDES

How to tell whether a hardware price is good

A useful hardware deal is a low current price for the same exact variant and condition, supported by enough recorded history. Compare daily coverage and final checkout cost before treating a discount as evidence of value.

Start with the exact item

A GPU family can include several memory capacities and board designs. Compare the same capacity, variant and condition before treating a difference as a discount.

Read the price and the coverage together

A low price from one observation is simply the first recorded price. Look at how many calendar days were observed, when tracking started, and whether gaps exist. Frequent checks do not replace elapsed history.

Use the recent average as context

The RigScore uses an average of daily lowest observed item prices over the last 30 days. This reduces the effect of repeated same-day checks. A lower current price can be favorable within this record, without proving it is the cheapest price everywhere.

Check total cost and your timing

Shipping, tax, availability and compatibility matter. A good tracked price is one input to a purchase decision. Our assessments do not predict what the price will do next.
