THE RIGSCORE / BUYING GUIDES

Check GPU and RAM compatibility before buying

Choose GPU and RAM that your exact motherboard, CPU, case, power supply and runtime support. Verify part numbers and module types, because capacity alone does not establish compatibility.

GPU memory belongs to the graphics card

A GPU with 24GB of VRAM and a PC with 64GB of system RAM have two distinct memory pools. Some runtimes can offload work between them, but that changes performance and does not create one seamless GPU memory pool. Check the exact workload and runtime.

DDR generation and module type must match

DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable. Registered RDIMMs are not replacements for desktop UDIMMs; CUDIMMs also need explicit platform support. A 128GB server module is a different purchase from a 128GB desktop kit. Check the exact kit part number, supported capacity and qualified-memory list.

A kit is not a collection of interchangeable sticks

Capacity, module count, rank, voltage, speed and timings all matter. Mixing separate kits can prevent advertised settings from working, even if their names look similar. EXPO and XMP profiles are not guarantees for every configuration.

Check software and the exact GPU board

Confirm the graphics card is supported by your runtime and operating system, then verify power connectors, cooling and physical fit for the exact board. Used cards need individual seller and condition checks. Our site compares GPU and RAM prices; it does not certify a complete computer.
